Last night my brother and I had the extreme pleasure of being part of a wonderful lecture. It’s no secret to many of our friends that we’re very into magic.  There are many people that we look up to in the magic community but the very first name that always come up for us when discussing magic is Wayne Houchin. Here is a brief description from his website (as printed in Synthesis Magazine):
“Wayne Houchin is a cross between a con-man and a street magician… A fascinating live performer! If you ever have the opportunity to see him perform live, make damn sure you do not miss it, it will be an experience you will not soon forget!”

This statement is very, very true! Wayne is a very unique performer because he is very genuine about his performances. When you are watching him you don’t feel like someone is jamming magic down your throat, it feels like a natural conversation with a “supernatural” ending and if you ever get a chance to see him live… DO IT!

Wayne put on a great lecture/show last night. Currently performing at the Magic Castle this week, he took a few hours off to lecture a small group of people at The Magic Apple magic store in Studio City, CA. The crowd was in awe as Wayne performed some of the tricks that we knew and some that we didn’t. As a matter of fact, I had the pleasure of being part of one of his demonstrations! AWESOME!!!! I have to say that nothing surprised me more than the inspirational talk that he gave about settings goals and how to reach them. A lot of the lecture was geared towards magicians but I can tell you that everything he said can be applied to “real life”. My favorite quote from the entire evening was, “A goal is just a wish without a deadline.” This lecture placed a lot of things into perspective and helped me realize many things that I have been doing that I need to correct. For this, I say, “Wayne, thank you.”

Although not part of the lecture, but part of the evening, was Dana Hocking. Dana is phenomenal at creating music that not only inspires you but puts you in very specific moods. Dana is also the man behind the camera for all of Wayne’s performances and does phenomenal DVD editing. His editing technique is very gritty and “MTV-ish” but yet still stands as a style on its own. He ROCKS and we can’t wait until he releases more of his music!!!
