Although I had heard of political UK street artist Banksy several years ago, I was never compelled to seek his art until I saw his ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’ documentary. When he came state-side for an art show (and the Golden Globes) a couple of years back, Banksy left his mark in the City of Angels. Unfortunately, most of his art has since been painted over and vandalized. There were even a couple of instances in which segments of walls were cut from the buildings they were a part of just to take home an original Banksy. Guarded by dogs, this piece lays behind heavy metal doors with a “No trespassing” sign and a piece of plexi-glass to ensure some kind of preservation.
