As Houdini’s birthday comes to a close today’s picture takes inspiration from several places. In the magic industry there are always those names that seem to pop out instantly for people: Harry Houdini, David Blaine, David Copperfield, Penn & Teller… the list goes on and on. However, if you’re somehow IN the magic industry you begin to hear names like Wayne Houchin, Aaron Fisher and Lee Asher (just to name a few). Lee actually has his own deck of cards that he created with the Spanish company Fournier, they are the ‘Fournier Lee Asher No. 605s‘. These are amazing cards! They’re very sturdy and can take a lickin’ (not just for magic but also great for avid poker/blackjack players)!

Fast forward to today… Lee often has contests on days in which he announces the yearly release dates for the sale of Jerry’s Nugget playing cards and today was no exception. The instructions via tweet (@leeashermagic) for the first contest were simple:

Take pic of your deck sitting somewhere random. Make me LAUGH…

Although my picture may not make people laugh, I did find it fitting that my deck be in a fairly random place paying homage to Houdini’s straight jacket escape. After setting up the shot and adding a few grainy effects for that “old picture” look, I got what you see above. I hope you like it! 🙂
