In order to have an ending you need to have a beginning and Project: 3six5 was off to a rough start.

On my way into work this morning I decided that it would be great to get a picture of the sunrise to help symbolize the beginning of something new. I got to work, took an earlier lunch than I normally do and was on my way to get my shot. I got to Dockweiler Beach State Park and as the smell of the salty breeze hit my face, I took a deep breath. I grabbed my tripod then my camera bag and I was on the hunt to find a spot to take my picture. As I heard the sound of the waves crashing getting louder and louder I found a small sand dune by the Lifeguard tower and decide to setup there. Tripod… set. Camera… mounted. Turn the dial to it’s ‘On’ position…

‘No card in camera’

What?! I forgot my memory card?! How could I forget a memory card!? Check the bag! The sunrise is coming quick! No extra card. Damn. Keeping true to my last post, I took out my cell phone and did what I could to get a decent shot. Although not the best picture I’ve ever taken, I did get the job done. Day 1 complete.

I guess the upside is that I have my camera set to tell me that no card is inserted. I think I would have been far more disappointed had I continued shooting, got back to work and then realized that there was no card in the camera *sigh*.

The moral of this here story kids is to ALWAYS verify that you have a memory card in your camera prior to leaving for your shoot AND make sure you have an extra one in your bag.
