It’s been said that practice makes perfect but nobody is perfect so why practice? Simple. To get better at your craft. If you search Google for the term “365 project” you get an endless array of pages of people that have started a 365 Photo-a-day project. Although many have succeeded, many more have failed let alone get past the first 2 weeks. Just like them, though, I’m determined to make this happen. I love seeing photographer’s progression when you compare a picture from day 1 and one from day 365. I want to progress too. I want to continue to train myself how to slow down and see what’s around me at 1/100th of a second. So, whether I’m carrying my own camera or a I take a pic from my cell phone (or someone else’s cell phone and then email to myself) the fact is that technology surrounds us with methods to take a picture so the only thing that can prevent me from finishing this project (health permitting) is my own “procrastinitis”.
Although I will do my best to always add a little blurb about my picture, the truth is I will simply be happy with making sure a picture is posted. My hope is that by this time next year I will have grown as a photographer and that I am able to say, ‘I have successfully completed, my own 365 project’. I’m positive that not all the pictures I post will be interesting but I do hope that each one helps me grow as a photographer. Oh yeah and I also promise I will do my best to minimize the amount of pictures taken of my monitor. 🙂
Project 3six5 begins: March 16, 2010
Awesome. I have a friend who did it and made it through the whole year. You got this.
Thanks, man! I’m kinda nervous about it but crazy excited at the same time. 🙂
Awesome! Check out my friend’s 365. He just finished in December. He even printed a book (which I have and can show you on Sunday).

BTW, Travis, congrats to your friend!
@Anitza Thanks for sharing! Wow! He’s starting a new 365!? Congrats to him! Please bring the book on Sunday, I would love to see it! Seeing the amazing pics that he has posted only makes me MORE nervous. :/
Hahaha, no, not a new one, that post is dated 2009. Just wanted to share his stance in the beginning. Very similar to yours.
And don’t compare yourself to him. He’s a bonafide artist who studied photography and shoots at the Aquarium and works as a designer. He did it as a creative exercise, like you. You’ll burn your own trail. Doing it your own way.
Good luck!
I see your point. Thanks! 🙂
Here’s a link to my friend’s if you’re interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/illuminessence/sets/72157605206288013/All self-portraits. Are you gonna have a theme?
Wow! I can see that a lot of work went into each of the shots! Thanks for sharing, she is very talented!I don’t particularly have a theme but I did spend some time compiling ideas from around the web to work with (you know, the common, “alphabet”, “color”, etc) I’ll pick and choose depending on where I am or where I’m going but in the meantime I just want to get in the habit of carrying my gear around and shooting more in general.
